What is the Summer Reading Challenge?
Each summer SCLSNJ offers a Summer Reading Challenge that is intended to help prevent summer slide by making reading a habit. Let's create a lifelong love of reading!
How does it work?
June 16 through August 23, readers of all ages are invited to take the Color Our World challenge.
Embark on a journey of art and color, celebrating all the ways that creativity enriches our lives. Every day that you reach your personal reading goals, use Beanstack to log your reading and earn prizes along the way!

Badges
Get badges for attending programs, writing book reviews, visiting branches, and more. With badges, you'll receive virtual drawing tickets! Use your virtual drawing tickets to enter into the grand prize drawing of your choice.
Creativity Challenge
Get creative in your community! How did you color your world this week? Earn a virtual drawing ticket for each creative contribution recorded.
Examples include designing a work of art, preparing a creative meal, donating a homemade pet toy to a local shelter, creating uplifting cards for a nursing home, or painting rocks and hiding them to spread joy in your community.
We'll be posting your creative ideas all summer long, so be sure to follow our socials!
Reading Recognition Rewards
As you log your reading, you'll reach milestones of 15, 30 & 45 days. At each milestone, Children earn a badge that means they can go to any SCLSNJ branch to pick up a prize.
Adults who reach the 30 day milestone can go to any SCLSNJ branch to pick up their limited-edition tote bag.
At 45 days, you've completed the challenge! Challenge completion grants you 10 bonus virtual drawing tickets.
Grand Prizes
After you've spent your summer logging reading and earning bonus virtual drawing tickets, don't forget to place your tickets in the grand prize drawing of your choice!
Children can choose between a Fandango gift card (sends a family of 4 to the movies) or a Jumbo Caterpillar.
Adults can choose between a Fandango gift card (sends 2 people to the movies) or a Mystery Prize ( is it a car? is it a fridge magnet? Nobody knows!)
Winners will be announced on Saturday, September 6.
