Transformative Donation from Sanofi US Revitalizes Branches

About Blog Post Aug 6, 2025

August 6, 2025 - Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) recently completed a significant furniture refresh project. This initiative, which included over 2,000 furniture pieces, valued at over $500,000, was made possible through a generous donation from Sanofi US and represents a remarkable example of community partnership, fiscal responsibility, and environmental stewardship.

The refresh resulted from Sanofi US's move from their Bridgewater location to Morristown, which left a large amount of high-quality office furniture unused. Chris Edwards, President of the Somerset County Business Partnership (SCBP), connected Sanofi US with SCLSNJ. As a result of this connection, Sanofi US chose to donate a significant portion of the furniture for SCLSNJ to use in both public and staff areas.

"We are incredibly thankful to Sanofi US for this transformative donation," said Lynn Hoffman, Deputy Director of SCLSNJ. "The impact of this furniture refresh is felt in every one of our branches. Our patrons and staff now have access to comfortable, modern, and functional furniture that has completely revitalized our spaces. This project also represents a monumental win for our community. By accepting this donation, we've demonstrated our commitment to being great stewards of public funds, saving taxpayers a significant amount of money that would have been spent on purchasing new furniture. Furthermore, we've contributed to a positive environmental outcome by helping to keep thousands of pounds of furniture out of landfills."

SCLSNJ extends its sincere gratitude to the following individuals and organizations who were instrumental in the success of this project:

Sanofi US for their incredibly generous and impactful donation.

John Natale, Facilities Director at Sodexo, who played a pivotal role in coordinating and facilitating the complex logistics of the project.

Building owner, AVG Partners, for their essential support throughout the process.

Chris Edwards at SBCP, the crucial connection between Sanofi US and SCLSNJ.

This furniture refresh allows SCLSNJ to continue providing welcoming and modern environments for learning, collaboration, and community engagement. The new furnishings include a wide range of pieces, from desks and chairs to collaborative seating and shelving, enhancing the comfort and functionality of each SCLSNJ branch.
